Mechanical Design Engineer

Kays Engineering manufactures the well respected Dehoff and Eldorado line of

precision deep hole drilling systems.

This combined product line serves to offer a wide range of

 available systems for the Gundrilling, BTA and Ejector processes.

 

Job Title:

Mechanical Design Engineer

Scope:

Design of mechanical assemblies, automation systems, and other related systems

 for precision deep hole drilling machines and special purpose industrial equipment. 

Includes completion of layouts, detail drawings, and other documentation. 

 

Requirements:

  •         Verbal and written communication skills.

  •         Excellent computer drafting skills, AutoCAD proficiency.

  •         Mechanical aptitude and understanding of structural and mechanical principles.

  •         5+ years experience in design of machine tools or industrial equipment.

  •         4 year degree in mechanical engineering, drafting, mechanical technology or equivalent.

 

Duties:

  •          Create machine mechanical lay-out drawings and complete design of machines, fixtures, and automation equipment as required.

  •          Specify purchased components to be used in the construction of machines.

  •          Create bills of materials for machine assemblies and sub-assemblies.

  •          Design hydraulic and pneumatic systems and create schematic drawings.

  •          Interface with customers to clarify requirements of machines.

  •          Issue release packages to production control for machine build.

  •         Design details of mechanical components of machines using CAD.

  •         Create itemized assembly drawings of machines using CAD.

  •         Create floor plan layout drawings and any necessary installation diagrams for machines.

  •        Compile job record notebooks for assigned projects.

  •         Interface with mechanical component suppliers to stay abreast of current product developments.

  •         Resolve mechanical component issues with assembly department and suppliers as they occur.

  •         Interface with assembly department members as required in completing construction of machines including revision of drawings.

  •         Complete machine operation and maintenance manuals and related documentation.

  •         Provide information to machining and fabrication departments regarding component design and clarification of drawings as required.

  •         Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
